I'd try to get the intake manifold along with the D16Z6 head if I were you.
Basically get the intake manifold, complete head with cam, new head gasket from Honda, new intake and exhaust manifold gaskets, valvecover gasket, cam seal, VTEC valve D ring seal with screen, and a distributor O-ring.
I think you might be able to keep the Z1 distributor, but I'm not 100% about that.
I also think that the VTEC-E valvecover itself will work on the Z6 head, but again double check to make sure.
I know the VTEC solenoid itself will work from the Z1 on the Z6.

The z1 distributor will work on the z6 head, they are the same. Which timing belt should be used? VX or Z6? I have heard that the VX belt is not correct for the typical d15b mini me, but I don't know about the d15z1.

Read my SOHC VTEC mini-me writeup (also in my sig): https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=554053
You will need the timing belt from the Z6...prices, parts, performance gains from a Z6 head swap are all in my writeup...make sure you check it out!
