Default D15Y8 Turbo?

Yes, I said a Y8 8 valve slug. Looking for a temporary HP fix. Could I boost this motor or am I wasting my time due to the poor flowing head? Again, this is only temporary and I have access to a salvage yard with any and all parts I would need.

Well, there are better heads out there...and for cheap. I have a boosted y8 in my hatch and i love it. Personally, I think boosting a single cam is the best way to get cheap power and I know people have different opinions. They can take quite a bit of boost on stock internals and if you wanna go even higher, then you can build the bottom end and watch the boost rise to nearly 19-20 psi. Of course there are other factors that play into a turbo setup besides the motor and turbo parts. You will have to get it tuned, slap some new injectors in and a new fuel pump among many other things. If you are going to piece together your own kit, just make you research your *** off before ordering ANY parts. You MUST know what you are doing. If you don't, then order a kit.

umm, this is all true, but i think he meant d15b8 not d16y8 seeing as how he said its an 8 valve.

OP: spend the money on a differant motor, then spend the time on swapping it. a boosted HF will make about the same power as a stock z6. and be less reliable

I've never heard of a D15Y8...

Is it a D16Y8 or a D15B8?

I'm kinda confused...

Merger between a D16Y8 head on a D15B8 block, ha .

Seriously, what is it?

Or is it a D15Y8 and I've just never heard of one?

maybe he swapped a y8 head on a d15 motor, but then again the y8's come with 16valve and not 8 so that just defeats that. yeah i think u have a d15b8

My bad, it is a B8.
Now for the reason why I was thinking of doing this. I am building this car for Honda Challenge competition with NASA in the H4 class. I am going to do a Z6 swap, once I find one close enough. I was going to go for my Comp License Feb 23rd, but will not have the time to get everything done so I am just going to use it as a track day instead. Last time I had the car at VIR, the power was pathetic. I was just thinking, since the motor is coming out anyways, that I could slap a turbo up there, intercooler, injectors, FMU, etc and go have a little more fun. I know the work might not be worth it, but I am capable and willing to do it. I was just concerned that the ports on the head would be too restrictive and a little boost would make little or no difference.

like i said the first time, wasting your time. 8psi probably wouldnt even give you 120whp. definately not worth the time, or money for that fact, but even if all parts were free i wouldnt waste my time.
