d15b8 to JDM d15b. helps?
Alright. Just picked up a stock 93 CX hatch the other day. d15b8 has to go. Leaning towards a JDM D15b vtec, since I'm on a limited budget. Found one at a local shop for like $500 w/ no tranny, harness, ecu. Garunteed to run, and have less than 30k on it.
What all am I going to need to do it? I'm not to savvy on honda swaps.
The hatch is already 5 speed, so all the 5 speed crap is there.
questions:
1) can I use the clutch and what not out of the b8?
2) can I use a z6 tranny, harness and ECU?
3) What other stuff will I need to do the swap in a day or so and get it on the road?
Thanks guys. I heard this was the best place to come. So,.....lets see how your reputation holds up.

1)yes
2)yes, you'll just need to wire up VTEC solenoid and pressure switch and add 3 wires for a 4 wire O2 (your CX and the D15B have a one wire O2). You can just reuse your CX harness and add the necessary wiring for O2 and VTEC
3)Its about the most straightforward swap you can do, reuse axles, the rest is plug and play as long as the engine is the OBD1 version

So plug and play with OBD1...hmm. seems simple enough really.
I was told to use the obd2 D15b with a p28. Could I just convert the d15b to OBD1, and use a z6 harness and ecu w/p28.

Re: d15b8 to JDM d15b. helps?
I'd stay away from the obd2 d15b vtec, only proper ways to run it are with a chipped p72 ecu or it's p2j ecu which is very rare (not sure if you know about it). Only way to convert the obd2 d15b vtec to "work" with obd1 would be to swap the head. If you don't know already, it's a 3-stage-vtec. It has vtec-e, regular, and vtec modes. It's a bit of a byotch to get running, that's why they are so cheap...
