d15b8 to d16z6 help
i have a running d15b8 into my car and about to purchase a b16z6..
he is only selling the engine and the tranny..
other than the ecu
what else do i need for this swap to work inside my car?
will i be able to reuse my I/E manifold from my b8 to z6? shift linkage etc? distributor alternator?starter?
basically give me a list of what engine component i can use from a d15b8 to make this d16z6 work normally on my car..
my d15b8 is a 5 speed out of a 95 CX hatch if that helps.

Re: d15b8 to d16z6 help
You can use the B8 intake/exhaust manifolds but the openings are waaaaaay smaller compared to the intake/exhaust ports of the 16valve heads (I personally suggest obtaining the correct manifolds or at least DX/LX manifolds). I'm pretty sure you can use your existing wiring but you'll need to add a couple of plugs/wires to make it work correctly with the Z6 engine. Shift linkage is the same.

You can use your harness you will just need to run wires for VTEC. If he is only selling the block and the tranny without the manifolds then i suggest you get the right manifolds. I think one of my friends has one that he is willing to part with if your interested. The B8 manifolds are going to make it run like crap. I dont know about the exhaust manifold either, I think it might be a bit different because I think that the D16 blocks are taller which means that the header wouldnt clear the oil pan.

Reuse your clutch/flywheel/pressure plate/shift linkage/starter. You can reuse your alternator. You'll need to modify your existing distributor or obtain a Z6 specific distributor (one of the internal sensors is 180 degrees out, modify your non-VTEC distributor or get the correct one for the engine). Wire up VTEC, might need to add wires for the O2 sensor (I can't remember if CX is 1 wire or not), might need to extend IAT sensor wires. That's about it.
