D15B8 to D15B7 swap??
Okay so the headgasket on my stock d15b8 is fried and I was told that I cant just change out the gasket because of all the built up pressure the head will blow. So, I was wondering if this was true or could I swap in a full d15b7 or even just the head and what work may it require? I have read that this motor uses a 4 way o2 sensor or whatever and that needs to be wired up and I have to use the ecu for that motor. I have also read that I can just keep my ecu and just swap in the motor so Im a little confused.. can someone tell me what I actually have to do for this to work?
Let me also add I have no wiring experience or mechanical experience other than the regular routine maintenance. Im just looking for the simplest solution. |

Re: D15B8 to D15B7 swap??
Wait, why wouldn't just replacing the headgasket be fine? unless the water jackets are clogged or damaged in the head I think it would be fine. But as you can see from my sig, I'm just a n00b ;)

Re: D15B8 to D15B7 swap??
you said that your head gasket blew. so just get a new head gasket. preferably a metal one because they last a lot longer then the cardboard composite stock ones do. and if your thinking about changing the motor its just a waste of your money. if you get the new gasket, port and polish the head, then port your intake you can make more power out of the d15b8 then a stock d15b7 motor for the price of a new head gasket, a 3 inch and a 2 inch paddle sander for a drill (4$ for the both of them) and barrow someones grinder and go to town. instead of buying another motor, ecu, distributer, exc. that are needed to swap the motors.
