d15b7 vs d15b8
my friend just bought a 95 civic DX with a d15b8 in it. according to my research that engine only came in the cx and its an 8 valve. Im assumin sum1 swaped engines because it should have a d15b7(16 valve). well this engine has a blown head gasket and warped head so im just gonna replace it for him. But my question is does it matter wich one i put back in there? are all the plugs gonna be the same for the harnes? any other problems i might run in to?

Yeah either one will run and start the car, but it definitely matters. The B8 is an 8-valve engine, where the B7 is a 16-valve engine. Using a P06 on a D15B8 is going to run very rich, and eventually cause damage to the engine. Using a P05 (D15B8 ECU) on a D15B7 will cause it to run very lean, which will eventually cause damage to the engine.
They are probably just putting in another 1.5L because they are inexpensive engines, and anything is better than the D15B8. I own a CX, and I can say from experience that the D15B8 is laughably gutless.
