D15B7 teardown...4-door EG track car
Alright well here's the quick rundown of the story that nobody cares about. My neighbor had the EG sitting in their driveway forever because the driver is a college graduate and he had to be a *** and buy a new 1.8T and live with his girlfriend elsewhere. Anywho, so it just sat there and I'm like "God, wouldn't it be nice to have that be my drag car" (it's so old and dented up, I figured there would be no point to MD inspect it and tag it). Get home from work one day and the guy's mother is outside smoking...PRIME TIME! I shoot over and ask her if she'd be willing to sell it. "Oh god, that thing is so old I don't even know. Here, actually I have the key for it. [gets the key] It's the only one we have so don't loose it. Other than that, you can mess around with it whenever you want." I'm like "Holy ****! She gave me the master key...must mean this car could be mine soon." I checked out the car...turned the key...dead. Battery=shot which was expected. Tried recharging that sucker...refilling the wet cells...nothing. Ugh, time to buy a new battery. Okay so I do that, takes forever to start..but got the sucker working. It's only a D15B7, so I HAVE to rip open the block and do something!
Whew....long, boring story I know, but now that's over, have some pics.
Plan as of now for the motor, rip it completely apart, clean everything and put it back together...with plans in mind. Without putting a whole bunch of cash into it, any ideas? My only guess would be a cheap turbo, run single digit boost and be just about done.....a 15 second "track car" for free is good in my book.
Sorry about all that chit-chat...now it's time for the pics!
Your shot post-yanking the motor. Rope you say? Yeah...I'm poor and can't find any spare chains, so that 500lb-test rope will work damn it!
Your longblock mounted on the stand (minus the headers)
Clutch assembly comparison...obviously the EG is on the left, and "Casey" is out of my friend's 95 EX. Close isn't it? Haha
Your head disconnected with a whole bunch of **** laying around it
Almost bare block
Alright, well I'll continue to update pics on here if you fellas want 'em. Other than that, give me some feedback/ideas
(Yes, I know it's a POS motor, but it's free goddamn it!)

Re: D15B7 teardown...4-door EG track car (CoolJimWhy)
ha ha, that's awesome a free car! Since you got the motor out and all apart anyways, have you considered getting forged internals? if you put them in your self they're really not that expensive, if you buy used forged internals It's almsot cheap, I dont' know what kind of money your playing with here, but that's what I'd do.
That's cool how much stuff you've done to it already at any rate. Before you reasemble it you should clean off and polish that block, it would look soooo much better.

I would buy some ls rods, find some cheap pistons put a z6 head on it then put together a decent homemade-turbo kit and find an ex/si tranny simple, cheap, and fast setup and if you have some extra cash buy a cam and clutch

"Throw a B18!!" is a sentence as it has a subject (B18) and a command-declined verb (Throw). A direct object, indirect object or preposition would make it a better sentence, but - as it sits - it is indeed grammatically correct English.
Oh, and "D15B drag car" is kind of ironic unless your Bisi .

Nice! Free! I love it. I've pretty much got the same car. I did the mini-me and will have turbo on it soon -- it pulls way better than with the b7 head.
Have fun with that, post new pics as available please.
