D15b7 Mini-Me D16z6 Swap Running 2 Cylinder????HELP!!!
 

I have a d15b7 i just swaped a d16z6 onto it. The head was ported and polished to the max...Clean up the valve and springs. This head has crower cams and AEM tru timing gear. The car has a starting problem and is only running on 2 cyclinder.1&2 does have spark but when pulled out of the motor nothing happen???? Pulled the 3rd plug off engine shuts off (Same with 4th) . So 1&2 doesnt seem to work or something anyone know what is going on or have any idea of this stupid thing???? Anyone in the San Jose Area can give me a hand and put me on the road that would be great also.Also have 2 td-42u vtec distributor from a d16z6 motor also. MSD Digital 6 Ignition and rotor,cap,plugs.

It seems silly but it has happened to many many people. Check for plug wire order:

not saying you dont know what your doin... but are you sure the timing belt isnt off... that AEM gear might have fucked u up....

but the fact you said you pulled certain plug wires and it kept running leads me to think its ignition related.

let me ask you this... is that the same ignition setup you had on the D15? and are you sure its in good working condition?

but first and formost... id do what fast95eg8 said... its a common mistake...

I dont think the V-tec Distributor wire are plug that way. Timing belt runs ok Not sure about the cam gears though any idea?

well if your plugs are any different that what he posted in that picture, theres your problem. on almost ALL hondas, thats the pattern. the distributor in your case is setup like a diamond, starting from the bottom and going clockwise on the distributor its: cylinder 1, 3, 4, 2. I ran like 4 of these motors before dude,... i know my engines firing order.

TRY IT atleast, then ask later for more suggestions if its not the problem.

i tried it liked that and my motor will not start up at all and makes a loud backfire sound and pop thats all. restored it to 1,2,4,3 or something like that then whoa started up but hella shaking becuase of the cyclinder 1&2 not firing right

Did you check the msd I have see these go bad and cause major problems. If you have the parts swap it back to factory or find someone that has a known good msd box and try that one. Did you change over the computer and hook up the vtec wiring correctly?

ill tell you from experience, that poping and cracking means its off... means you DIDNT put it to 1, 3, 4, 2!...

i think your starting on the wrong part of the distributor... cuz if its running the way your saying, you STILL dont have it right... 2 cylinders arent just gonna die like that...

look at the dizzy, it should be pointing like a diamond on an angle... if its confusing you, put number 1 on the spot closest to your firewall... cuz it seems your dizzy is on more of an angle. start from there and go clockwise... so the next one to the right will be 3, then right again will be 4, then 2.

try that.

I have a couple civic at home and the go 1,2,3,4 and they start fine. i use a stock d15b7 ecu gonna get another p28 because it is broken now.

dude... theres no honda that goes 1,2,3,4 in a CLOCKWISE order... period.. its from the spot etched on the dizzy: ONE. Then CLOCKWISE , THREE, FOUR, TWO...

I think this guy is beyond hope or just doesn't understand that the firing order is not 1,2,3,4 save your breath! he might just have to have it towed to a shop and pay someone to fix it for him

ok got it i just counted it wrong but yea my spark plugs is at 1,3,4,2 . #1 is closes to the firewall. i think maybe i bought a bad cylinder head? or my block is blown?
