Default D15b7 leaking oil HELP!!

yo what up guys I got this 95 Honda Civic with a d15b7 motor in it. I have this minor engine oil leak that is bugging the f out of me!! The leak comes from where the transmission and the block meet. I already changed the rear main oil seal twice, and I’m not loosing any transmission fluid. I changed the oil pan gasket twice but it’s still leaking. It just drips down from the where the tranny and engine meet. I have no idea what it is. Help!!

It's not coming from higher up and only looks to be draining from between the engine and trans is it? It could be your distributor. You can pull the distributor cap off to see if oil is in it. You won't even need to remove the spark plug wires.

Your rear main seal is likely still leaking due to a gouge in the crank from the old seal wearing out.

Either you try to install a new seal, either more or less recessed than the crank gouge to prevent the seal from leaking, or you get a crankshaft repair sleeve and install that, then install the new rear main seal.

Mine was dripping oil. Turns out it was coming from the valve cover leaking into the timing cover and making its way down the engine. Might be something to check out?

yeah I’m just going to change the valve cover gasket and the distributor o ring hopefully that solves it.

My experience is that the oil leak with the distributors on these cars is that the oil comes through them due to a failed seal internal to the distributor, not around that o-ring: this is why I suggested to remove the distributor cap to see if there is oil inside the distributor. Also, I'm not saying the o-rings don't ever leak. The seal is too much of a hassle, in my opinion, to change by itself: I recommend a new distributor if that seal is leaking.

so I removed the cap like you suggested, and it was all dry. I removed the distributor and found out my o ring was cracked. So I replaced that, I’m planning to replace the valve cover gasket because I know that it leaks from there. Hope it’ll be fixed I’m trying everything to not have to bring down the transmission again! Thanks man!

Excellent! Our philosophy at our garage is to fix the "high leaks" first, and work downward from there. I hope that split O-ring was the problem. I have slathered the grey RTV around the new O-ring for a little extra assurance before!

so I went back threw some RTV on the o ring, I replaced my valve cover gasket and put RTV on that also. I let the car run for about 30 minutes, stuck a cardboard under the car and I had no oil dripping. I hope it doesn’t start leaking again if it does then idk what it can be. Thanks a lot man you helped out a lot!!
