D15B7 ECU on D16Z6 question.
Long story short:
I did a Z6 swap into a 4dr EG and alot of other work, for free and used my race car to source the parts, also free. VTEC is not wired because the VTEC harness was hacked up and I used the stock D15 harness. I'm throwing a CEL but I haven't checked to see exactly what its for.... BUT if I run the car on the D15 ECU the CEL goes away, so I believe its because VTEC isn't wired. I have not driven the car with the D15 ECU for fear that it would be too lean... but
She is complaining that the gas mileage sucks and without going into a long explanation, I'm not going to wire VTEC until I get something in return. But I'm willing her help her out with the gas milage if I can just swap the ECU's. I gave her a car to drive, when she wants VTEC she can pay me.
So my question is:
Will the Z6 run unsafely lean at lower RPM (under 4k) if I use the D15 ECU? Would that even help the gas mileage? A friend said his mileage didn't change when he drove without VTEC wired. But I wouldn't really trust him to work on my car either lol.
Another concern is, I never knew how the car did before on gas mileage because I never had a working speedo... but the exhaust indicated pretty rich or oil consumption. I feel it was more rich than anything, but I had been running a virgin Z6 ECU... as far as I know.
