Default D15B7 Del Sol

ok i just became a member here. but i own a 1994 del sol S running the factory D15B7 motor and the auto Tranny. i have owned it since december of last year and never had any major problems.. i love the car and want to make it a clean street car just a fun toy. lower it boost it and paint it.. but the two things that have been pestering me is that recently it has started rattling above 2 grand. like its coming from the lower end. so i have been thinking rod bearings.. am i right? and would it be a good idea to swap motors with a LS or GSR? or just build this D15 and make the block bulletproof and see what it can do?how much boost would be safe to run on a bored and sleeved d15 block with proper boost management?i would like to hit at least 18.. shoot for 300 HP for the 1/8th mile.. and how would i go ablout putting a vtec head on it? im still a newb at hondas but i always want to earn new things.. Thank you

ok like i stated before i would like to aim for 300 HP for the 1/8th mile.. but i would still like it to be street legel.. so i guess im looking for something that will blow the doors off my buddys car.. yet i can still use as a daily driver.. and im on a limited budget. thats why i was thinking about using the stock D15. another option i have been thinking about is. building this motor. for crusing yet still whizz by my buddys..boost and what not.. then find a LS or b16 block and build it and have it ready to go for performance.. and the other things i was talking about is the rattling.. i only hear it when i drive and RPMS get above 2 grand it starts rattling and ticking.. but im thinking thats the rod bearings.. and im sorry if this is all over the place ask questions and i will answer them in a edit on this one thanks for any help

That motor isnt worth building......Swap in an H22 or something and be arround 200hp bone stock. The swap is 3000.00 complete at the most. That motor is not a good platform to build on IMHO.

well here is the thing. i am on a very limited budget. infact im porably going to be ordering the parts as i can afford them and letting them sit untill i can put them on. but i was figuring i could build this D15 and have a fun toy. what i want to do with this car is swap in a b-series motor and boost it. but im too poor to afford the motor. so i will have to build this motor and see what happens. what trannys will bolt up? i need a 5 spd instead of this auto tranny thats in it now.. and how much boost would be safe to run? could i shoot for 15-20? or should i play it safe with 10?
