d15b7/d16z6 head mini me problem
Ok I did alot of research and decided to do the mini me swap. Got all the parts and installed it with my friend using all the information I got from here and what people have done in the past. After getting it all done it started right up and threw 2 codes. 20 and 22. I fixed the vtec pressure switch so that code went away but now the 20 ELD is still going off. I cleared the ecu by removing the ecu fuse to reset it and it ran fine until i decided to put on a new aem short ram intake. A few days later it would bog and feel as if i was losing power in acceleration like something was holding it back. Then it would bog even more if i kept constant pressure on the gas like cruising at 30 or 40 mph. Then is would almost die and idle really high. I dont have a tach but I know its over 1k. Now it has a really hard time trying to start up. Sometimes it will start like when its cool out. The rest of the time it wont start at all not even pop start. I brought it to a garage and the guy said that either the dizzy and ecu arent working together so something may be faulty there but he also said that the head shouldnt be on the block and it wont work no matter what. So please any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Wed morning bump, anyone have any suggestions for me? Bad computer? Bad timing? I have no idea and the garage won't touch it cause of the mini-me status.

Well....have you checked your timing...?
Ensure that your ignition timing is 16 degrees BTDC.
Also, you do know that without an adjustable cam gear or y7/y8 cam gear, your mechanical timing is going to be 4.5 degrees off, right?

Are you running a Z6 dizzy as well. Check the coil, your timing and make sure your spark is good. Some of this sounds like an ignition or electrical issue - check all the harnesses around the motor as well.

Re: d15b7/d16z6 head mini me problem (EJProject)
He is running a z6 distributor, I'm not sure if he's checked his timing yet. He has a Skunk2 Adjustable cam gear. Does that mean that he can't use the TDC marks on the cam gear? With his setup is TDC not really where the cam gear says it is?
Also, I was reading a write-up last night about the mini-me to see what exactly it entailed (I helped him physically do the labor bc I have all the tools, he was responsible for the research and knowing what parts he needed, etc). Anyways, the write-up I was reading stated that you need Z6 spark plug wires, is that correct? What's the difference? The length of the shaft before you reach the plug? I don't know if he bought the plug wires for his car (DX-D15B7) or the head (SI-Z6). Just a thought. I'll have him jump on here with his replies tonight hopefully.

Check all the grounds on the motor.
And ELD code usually entails something with the grounds or something grounding out.

Did you check all the grounds or just the ones for the VTEC subharness? i.e. the grounds to the valve cover, thermostat housing, transmission, etc.. and any others I am probably forgetting.

Ok, checked grounds, redid some of them for a better ground. checked to see from what the book told me about the timing and if the timing mark on the cam gear and the dizzy were at the right position. rechecked the computer connections and vtec subharness. started it up ran perfectly fine. alot more responsive, vtec engages no problems. went and test drove it to get gas and on the way back decided to go on the highway as soon as i hit 100 cel came on. didn't bog or idle high just came on. checked the code was 20. turned it off and started it up next morning. no cel and drove perfect. have been driving it since sunday morning and no cel came up no bogging and no loss of power. also havent hit vtec yet since the test run. so im kinda confused right now lol.

just a note, but the ground to the thermostat is important because that's the grounding spot for the main relay.
just a question about your mini-me setup, but are you still on the stock Z6 cam gear? have you been getting any issues with overheating?
