d15b2 into 92 Hatch
ok guys have a small problem, and would like some help if possible.
i just recently took my engine out of my 89 sedan that had a chassis electrical meltdown and put it into my recently acquired 92 hatchback. it ran perfect prior to swapping it.
now heres my problem. with everything at tdc the car will not start and run. but if i advance the dizzy say max adjustment, and the cam advanced 6 degrees on an adjustable cam gear, it will start but not hold and idle. so i cut one of the ears clear to give me some more dizzy timing and im able to make the car idle.
no i like that fact that the car is now running, but i dont feel safe in leaving it like that.
can anyone help me on this??

it sounds like ur head isnt on timing at all. you have to adjsut the cam gear properly. My friend did this when he helped me put my car together the first time. After i figured out that he was a retard i didnt let him touch my car anymore. And now only me and my dad work on it. So it could be that your cam gear is loose, or that ur head is totally off timing.

i also thought about this. the adjustable cam gear is a Skunk2 unit. i was thinking about this over the night because i had trouble sleeping once again, but i wonder if im going to have to put my stock cam gear back on, re-time the engine, then put the adjustable back on at the zero setting. im thinking that the keyways are different angles and thats why im having the issues ive got.
