A buddy told me that if I run a p28 ecu with the jdm d15b vtec that i would have to switch the vtec solenoid to a usdm vtec solenoid or else I would throw a code for the vtec oil pressure sensor becuase apparently the jdm d15b vtec solenoid only has 2 wires and doesnt pick up that sensor.

Does that sound right to anyone? Can someone please clear this up for me!

Well that depends. If i understand you correctly you want to run a p28 on a JDM D15B Vtec engine. Some JDM Solenoids dont have a OIL PRessure sensor, thus a p28 requieres one. So that would depend on wether or not your solenoid has a OIL Pressure plug or not.

Someone correct me if im wrong.

you can ground out that sensor because i had that same question, and this is what a guy on my local forum said:

Well to me thats just to much BULL. Just get a sensor with a oil pressure sensor and call it a day

so how do i go about finding out whether or not ive got the right solenoid? my budy said that the jdm one only has two wires coming from the solenoid. is that right?

have you done the swap yet? try the ECU out, and if its throwing code 21, then its searching for the Vtec Pressure switch, which is (i belive) 2 wires coming under the Vtec Solenoid which i think is 1 wire.

OH, thats what you were talking about. my bad, man, i kept thinking you were talking about the solenoid

in that case, if the USDM one fits, which i dont see why it wouldnt, then yeah, just swap it out. a pressure switch for my gsr ran me about 63 bucks so its not that bad

It will have the pressure switch. Only OBD2 JDM B-series engines lack the vtec pressure switch.

i've got the jdm d15b and it came with the green wire on the solenoid i've also got it hooked up but im running a p08 ecu so it might not be reading that signal anyways.

That's retarted.

Vtec will kick in like 10 times harder and take like 1 second off your quarter mile time if you just take the VTEC solenoid off.

The oil pressure coming from the pistons is higher than the VTEC solenoid oil pressure.

Therefore, once that pressure goes into your head, you'll have VTAK. Which is NOT to be mistaken with VTEC, because VTEC is [freak]ing gay and weak, whereas VTAK actually does something.

naw man what you gotta do is run that'n there green wire back into t'other one man it makes the vtec stay on all the time and it spins the tires straight off the line up until you ****** 4th gear but it still barks it a little bit mane.

to OP you'll be fine just use the p08 or p28 doesn't matter...both US and JDM D15(vtec) motors use oil pressure sensor.

How it going. I have a 95 d15b vtec in my dx civic 1998 Honda that had d16y7 non vtec. I have the car running but my vtec isn't kicking. You think you can help
