D15b VTEC Head on B7 Using P28
So a friend and I are in the process of doing a mini-me swap. He originally had a D15B7 and bought a D15B VTEC head to put on. We are using a P28 ecu. The snag we ran into is we keep getting a code #22 for the VTEC pressure valve. Is it possible for this to go wrong?

The JDM D15B did not come with the VTEC pressure switch plug, which has the wire that sends the switch's signal to the ECU, but the Pressure Switch's signal can still go through the VTEC solenoid wire. This allows you to bypass the Pressure switch CEL by doing some simple splicing.
Splice the VTEC wire that goes from the VTEC solenoid to A4, and pin it into D6, so the one wire goes from the solenoid and branches off to BOTH A4 AND D6. Problem solved: You should get no more CEL #22. Just did it on my JDM D15B and I now have properly operating VTEC.

lol, weird, cuz i just got done dealing with this on my jdm d15b vtec engine, and it has no vtec pressure switch plug for me to wire. Maybe it has a different solenoid put on it?
I don't know, how did you go about wiring VTEC into your ECU?

Just how it was done on this write-up. We did the plug to D6 and the solenoid to A4

Hm. That's a good write-up, and one I usually refer prospect mini-meers to. Hm, did you mix up the pressure switch signal and ground wires? Or perhaps the pressure switch's ground wire is not finding a good ground? That's about all I can think of, besides maybe that you've got a solenoid from a d16z6 on your D15b vtec head.

I'm not sure. I was actually thinking of putting on a d16z6 solenoid until i found the diy on how to bypass the problem and get rid of the check engine light. I say check the wiring again and again to double check, and search the rest of the internet for any similar issues brought up on other forums or something. Good luck to you man, I wish I could work with you on your engine to get through this problem, I know how it is being without VTEC.

No, I have a P08 ECU, but had what I thought was pretty much the same problem. The bypass that I used was also for those who have used a p28 ecu with a d15b vtec engine, and are having problems with the #22 code.

Well we got rid of the code. Turns out the Wire wasn't in enough on the pin. But VTEC is still not working. I may try the jumper now on his car.

Huh, so there aren't any codes being thrown? Maybe the oil pressure isn't high enough, you could check your oil level. Or the solenoid screen (term usage?) is dirty and gummed up. I made sure to clean mine out pretty well before I put in my engine.
Other than that, if it's not throwing any codes, and VTEC really isn't working, I don't know what else to tell you that could help, aside from the fact that the SOHC VTEC engines don't have very noticeable VTEC, as compared to their DOHC counterparts. VTEC also doesn't engage when the car is cold. I would suggest checking all of the above, then do a 2nd gear WOT pull from, say, 15 mph with the windows UP, and no music/fan. Listen closely for the change in pitch. You may have VTEC, and just not be noticing it.
