Re: D15B JDM SOHC VTEC.. (AdamQ3B85)
I own a JDM D15B.
A very high 14 with I/H/E could maybe be possible in a car that weighs absolutely nothing, and with driver flat shifting, with alot of practice. It definately wont be easy.
Ive seen many JDM eg ferio Vti's (with jdm d15b) over here in New Zealand pulling 17 second 1/4 miles. and auto ones stuck in the 18's just to give you an example.
I own a turbo jdm d15b ferio but never raced it while N/A.
And no, the d16z6 is not the same engine ones 1500cc ones 1600cc, One is made in Japan, one is made in the U.S.
For those wanting more info, here is the ultimate jdm d15b info - http://asia.vtec.net/article/d15b/

Very zippy motor... I had one in a 94 coupe w/ I/H/E... my estimate on mines was mid 15's in gutted dx coupe w/ slipstreams.

Keep in mind that is not a stock chip...still
I personally like my little d15b....33+ MPG's and I can give most Mustangs a run for their money....(I wonder how many MPG's they get... ) The ONLY thing I don't like about it is that my CRX/ZC has a bit more low end then my VX/D15b...but the vtec makes up for that....

rated at 130PS = 128bhp = 128hp
BHP and HP
All the B means is "brake". The old word for a dyno - because the engine torque was measured by applying a brake to the flywheel rather than a torque converter or electrical motor which is how it's done nowadays. There's no other difference between the two and they both just mean horsepower.
If your short of bottom end, a good 4-2-1 header will help things a lot, it helped mine, and incresed compression (Y8 gasket + skim, my next project) will help too. I now have the same torque as my old D16Z6, but more power and faster revving

Re: D15B JDM SOHC VTEC.. (CivicESi)
Curious...is this a relatively cheap motor? Like the D16z6's? Also, would it be useless to swap this motor into the Si EG's? Sorry if it sounds like a stupid question, but i don't know much bout this motor.
