d15b jdm engine swap code 21 on cel help!
my 93 civic cx w/200,000miles needed a new motor. so i bought a d15b sohc vtec to replace my tired d15b 8 valve .the old motor was 70 horse. the new one is supposed to be 125,or the equivalent to a d16z6. i bought a wiring harness from a 95 ex to hook up vtec. i also bought a p28 ecu with the skunk2 program. header and msd sci ignition and ss coil. needless to say the car is not very quick and when i hit 6500 to 7000 rpms the cel comes on. until you turn the key off and then turn on the cel is gone. i replaced the vtec solenoid and still the same problem.a friend of mine has a 93 del-sol si with a stock d16z6 and it runs way stronger than mine. i dont think my vtec is working. slow civic in ky.

you need to run the wires from the shock tower to the ecu, also there is no Knock sensor, so don't waste your time with that one.

i did hook up the the 2 wires. vtec solenoid,yellow/green to a4 on ecu and vtec oil pressure switch blue/black d6 on ecu side. i used 18 gauge automotive wire to do this with liquid electrical tape then heat shrink tube then liquid tape again

maybe the chip in the ecu is bad also. what is the chip for 1.8 or 1.6. get another chip for your motor and try it out

i tried my ecu in my friends stock 93 del-sol si and you could really tell a difference the vtec pulled hard from about 5000 on. we put his ecu in my civic and still the same . no vtec . its like driving a d15 non vtec

did u replace your tranny? if its still the stock cx tranny thats why you are not getting any pull... they have the longest gears of the d series... i can beat a z6 with cx tranny and i have a d15 non-vtec with dx tranny... if he had my tranny if would be an easy win for him... but if ur gonna swap your tranny then get a ex/si tranny... as for ur cel i dont know why that is
