The Engines came inthe JDM Civic VTi ... A Honda shop manual would be the best source for info on this engine.

Try this site: for some info in D15B

This MAY help in finding more information

The JDM d15B SOHC Vtec motor is Basically a D15B7/8/Z1 (USDM CX, VX, DX) Bottom-end(block, pistons crank etc) with a D16Z6 (USDM Civic Si/EX) Head.

My Canadian/US Shop Manual has infomation on both the D15's and D16's, so if (92-95) D15B7/8 SOHC and a D16Z6 engines were available in Europe you should be able to find the info you need from a European shop manual.

If you have problems getting a shop manual in Europe you can get a USDM shop manual from http://www.helminc.com/helm/product2...SPAGAU0KLV5460

Cheers

Do they import this engine in the US along with other JDM engines? I'm thinking it would cost a little more than a USDM d16, but way cheaper than a b16/b18 swap. And it would probably be a plug and play swap.

just get an american one. its like a 5 hp difference. and plus the rods will be stronger (d16 vs d15).and u will prolly get ripped off just cuz its "jdm"..people get dumb over **** from japan..but anyway...if u wanted to put out more power then a jdm d15b...take a usdm d15 block..and get a usdm sohc vtec head either z6 or y8..a jdm d15 vtec CR is still in the 9's...with the american "mini me" your comp will be in the mid-high 10s in some cases...keep in mind gotta watch your timing, get a cam gear, also run premium gas. oh yeah..try the 88-89 integra d16a1 pistons..i guess they r like zc..domed..but u need to check all your clearances and ****.dont want piston-valve contact. the y8 headgasket is the thinnest oem d gasket and its metal. use the the d15z sohc vtec-e vx timing belt for d15 vtecs and use the normal z6 or y8 belt for d16's according to which head u acuire. y8 head yields higher compression. get yourself an sohc vtec or even zc tranny if u can(must convert hydro car to accept cable) cuz u can find those with lsd. oh..and the intake manifold..use the 96-00 y8 manifold(mini R). this tuned with a FPR,cam gear, and also a good sohc vtec cam grind should put some mildy modded integs in their place ..perhaps....i stress tuning on this lil bitch tho..rods r thin enough as it is...and not everyone can be a sohc master like bisi..lol. i wonder how many people have done these. seems like it would be pretty sweet for a sohc.

Yes they often import this engine in to North America .... It is a good option if your D16Z6 is pooched and you want a replacement ... The problem with most USDM D16Z6's is that they have high millage .... These are generally under 60kms are well worth the $500 for the complete long-block ... this is WAY cheaper than a rebuilt D16Z6

?!?! the rods will be stronger ???? i think not !!! this little baby pumps out som 130 HP in a 1.5 liter engine and will take more RPM (cause the leagth of rods not as much *** D16= higher RPM) There is not much diffrendt between D15B JDM vtec and a D16Z6

yes and all the way 2 denmark 2 !!! where the only 1.5 engine puts out D15B2/Z1 90 HP like the one i have !! so i fund this engine and wanna do a swap !! i think this engine is a nice POWER FULD ENGINE vs its only 1.5 liter !! vs is only 950KG it has 2 pull

from asia vtec:
Living in Big-Brother's Shadow
Honda's neglected hero,
the VTEC-D15B engine

Also frequently overlooked is the fact that with 130ps from 1.5l, the specific output of the VTEC D15B is 87ps/l which actually compares favourably with the larger capacity DOHC VTEC designs such as the BB1 Prelude's H22A. The specific output of the VTEC D15B is in fact higher than the 190ps version of the H22A used on the previous generation Accord SiR !
