Default d15b? no vtec? in del sol HELP!

okay a purchased my 93 del sol s about a year ago. the car had 133,000 miles when bought and the guy told me his son had blown the old motor so they put another one in that he said had around 50k on it. he said they put the exact same motor in and i looked at it and it had the plain d15 valve cover and i looked at the engine code and it said d15b and i thought that was the stock motor until i just recently read those motors are vtec and got 130hp. and i also read my car came with a d15b7 but my car dosn't feel like vtec at all and its rev limiter is 6700 which is 500 lower than just redline of d15b. so im really confused on what i got any help would be appreciated.

i have a d15b7 in my civic and my rev limiter is close to that. redline is at 6500, but the limiter seems to kick in a bit past that. and its not a v-tec motor atleast mines not. it has a lot more power after 4000 RPM but not like a v-tec

yeah mines the exact same way at 4000 it feel like a vtec but i know that its not and my redline is 6400 just like a d15b7 but the block says just d15b. so i looked into the specs and the red line for that motor is supposed to be 7200. my only guess is that i have the original non vtec head on the vtec block.

reply to 95dsol: i know for a fact i have a d15b. not d15b7. it says it clearly next to the tranny, i guess its just not a vtec one but i did just find out from someone that a d16z6 head will work fine on my block so ill probably go wit that
