Forced induction, end of story.

But if you are looking for simpler things, find yourself a Z6 tranny (shortest gears aside from the rare jdm d15 trans with LSD), a clutch upgrade, and a lightened flywheel. Those will give your car a better feel overall from stock.

the transmission sounds like good idea, but. clutch and lightweight flywheel add torque?

They dont add torque, but they do free up inertia from the motor, giving you faster revving (flywheel) and better/fast power trasnfer to the wheels (clutch).

I recently changed my flywheel out to a lightended aftermarket one, and it made a big difference in feel.

swapped a d15b into my ej1... have act stage 1 clutch/flywheel kit in it and i/h/e but i'm boosting at the end of this month... it's a fun setup the way i have it now you're not gonna increase torque on a single cam much bro

edit: have z6 trans

Single cams produce torque?
LoL i kidd.
Z6 trans, aftermarket clutch and flywheel are going to give you some extra get-go from your single cam (over stock feel) , but to really get any decent power out of them, you need to go boost.

either get a shorter geared tranny with lighter flywheel or swap out the bottom end for a 1.6. not too many torque adding parts to offer for an n/a 1.5.

When did sohc's start making torque n/a?

If you want torque without FI, put your stock intake and exhaust back on. Problem solved.
