So Im shopping for engines at the importer . .. I see this Honda engine .. looks like a Honda engine. . . . Why does it have 2 vtec solenoids.....

Wait . . some background . . . . I drive my civic a lot !!!!! our family has a Honda pilot ex V6 and a Honda civic hatch. . . .we drive the hatch anytime less than 4 of us has to go somewhere the pilot is a pig on gas.

so.. the guy says that's a 96-2000 d15b 3 stage vtec. . . . im like . . 3 stage vtev WTF . . WTF. . . WTF . ..

I read about it . . . this motor has a "econ" mode like new civics . .. has VTEC high rpm and drives like a regular civic under normal driving . . .its from a VTi Civic . . .

So I know what im buying now....

Pics removed. OP, for serious about the correct ECU. It's not a good deal unless it comes with ... otherwise it's headachesville.

It's not that bad. You can get the proper ECU from HMO. It'll cost you $350, but it's readily available.

I knew it was around but I never though of it as a viable engine swap for my cars.... so I didn't look into it. Now that I have a car that it will go into and work properly, and Im concerned about fuel consumption over racing punks at the light.

So I have been researching my *** off and I just cant seem to find what is the correct ecu. . .p2j.

anyone have this information on the top of their head. . .

I have an OBD2B Dx Hatch. Except the engine harness is from an SI with P2P ecu. So for all purposes . . .I have a 2000 Si engine bay.

i know the gas mileage sounds awesome but i just cannot deal with 100~ lbs of tq...lol..

I have driven my d16y7 powered 96 dx hatch around the block a few times to test the engine n trans before i yank it out to put the b20 swap in and i was amazed by how gutless and underpowered it is, LOL.

yeah my 2013 mazda 3 skyactive gets over 40 MPG on the highway but has a 2.0 in it, i think around 150lbs of torque.

I wish I cared about power with this thing. When I get an itch to feel some pull or hear loud *** vtec I take the family out in the pilot. But with that thing rated @ 16mpg city and 20mpg hwy . . . It costs a fortune on road trips and even seems expensive going around town getting groceries. . . I just want to make the primary car we drive as efficient as possible . . . great mileage at normal driving and regular civic Si power when I stomp the pedal. I cant wait to hear vtec twice down the intake.

Are you in Canada? Cuz your si is a USDM ex so you have vtec wired already. What's in your dx chassis now since you have another harness.

I am in Canada. I have a MINI me swap. put a 1.6 acura d16y8 head onto my Y7 block. Y8 intake. Y7 Exhaust

In Canada here 96-2000 we have the Civic CX which is base model hatch only. We have a Dx hatch, coupe and 4 dr all with y7 motor. Then there is the EX which is only a 4dr premium civic with a y8 motor. Then there is the Si which only comes in a coupe and it has the d16y8. Then we have the SIR which is the coupe with the B16a (which is the Si in the USDM market)
