Default D15B 3 stage vtec help needed...(searched no luck)

OK this is my problem I just droped in a D15b 3stage vtec from a 96-98 civic....I cant find any body in socal that can wire this vtec correctly....right now I have the single y8 vtec on the car and I get no pull till about 5700rpm.....I remember that my y8 vtec kicked in about 4800-5200rpm... I am useing the same stock y8 ecu....I need a shop or someone that has done this to help me out.... I do have the dual vtec module from the d15b I just need to put this back on and have someone wire this up so it works correctley...

I know that the d15b ecu is hard to find....but I know there are diffrent ways....I remember reading about someone installing a msd switch but found nothing on how to wire it....

all input is welcome....but plz help dont talk ish.....

thanks

Are you refferring to a D16Y5 E-VTEC? You have to use the ecu that goes with the engine. I've heard of the 3 stage VTEC engine, but other than fuel economy why would you want to use that engine? A Y5 block with a Y8 head will yeild a decent compression ratio and a little extra HP.

no not the D16y5 I have a d15b vtec with the 3 stage...I got the engine because have you seen gas prices lately I live in socal and gas is about 3.75/gal....I have seen many people get good power out of this engine....I think it has 130hp and the ex has 127 so not bad plus the economy....win win...I just need to know how to free up those extra horses I am not getting....

I dunno man sorry, good luck on the info. I thought the D15B 3 stage VTEC was a JDM only engine. Try to keep the pedaloff the metal

ok so we are all going on the premise that you want MPG and thats why you have three stage VTEC. how do you expect to get MPG's when your running your car to 5700 just to hit VTEC? grandma driving is much better for economy. gradual accelerating and decelerating man. steady on the throttle

I still need the power....at times....the reason I say 5700rpm is not that I take it there but to let you know whats going on with my car right now....reguardless the 3 stage vtec will help in all aspects from MPG to performance...

Hardest thing is getting the ECU. Not sure what ecu for obd1. But like you said obd2 is the P2J ecu. If you could get that wiring should be cake.

Why do people who don't even know this motor exists even bother posting?

I have this motor in my car. I'm running it on an AEM EMS. I am getting mid 40's highway mpg (still tuning) and putting 119hp and 99ft/lbs of torque to the wheels (for all those people who don't understand why you would run this motor). All I have on it is a CAI, DC 4-2-1 header, and a custom 2.25 exhaust. This motor will cruise just fine at 18:1 afr.

You have 3 options. I don't consider an RPM switch to be a viable option.

-Get the correct ECU and run the wire to the correct pin on the ECU. There is only one wire to run and it is plainly obvious coming from the second VTEC solenoid.

-Run a D16Y8 ECU and lock the VTEC-E solenoid on so that it keeps you in 16 valve mode. (Have never tried this)

-Run an AEM EMS and ask me nicely to send you a basemap. Then take it to a reputable place and get it tuned. You can get a used EMS from some idiot who was convinced by this forum to sell it and run Crome LOL.
