d15 swap + boost
ok now recently i've been thinking about a swap. now originally i was gonna get either a b16a2 or b18c (LS) and since i wanna get a turbo kit it would wind up costing me in excess of 4k. now i was thinking i could just buy a newer sohc engine and get a turbo kit for that and it would only cost me about 2500. now is there any website that offers d15's or d16's with the tranny included cause hmotorsonline has just the long block. would it matter if i use my old tranny with 130k+ miles on it...? or would it be better to have a new one in there. thanks

You could just buy an SOHC vtec motor and put all that money into building it for all motor and im sure you could hit low 14's with it.I was reading a post that b18c5 eh or something like that said and you could do that with all that money. My buddy runs 14.5 with n20 with all the bolt ons in his 95 eg SI hb

Re: d15 swap + boost (eg6turbo)
well i already have a d16z6 vtec but its got 130+ miles on it which is why i wanted to just get another sohc motor since it will be an easy as hell swap and dirt cheap to boost it.

well since u have it already u can reaplce it or get rods and psitons in there should run about 1800 everything included...and u can run 15 lbs all say...if funds stoping u just get a block for cheap and start fresh...but still u cant be certain that the new d16z6 was low miles either...my jdm d15b vtec had a compression of 180 all across and 8% loss in a leakdown test...which i have fixed since then by adjusting my valve lash...look at my sig and dyno and u can see the potential...i will be netting 220 whp by summer

Re: d15 swap + boost (XGRaViSmOrSX)
have you considered buying another z6 and building it up slightly on the side before you swap it in and boost it?
You could keep your current z6 as a spare, sell it, or rebuild it on the side just in case something blows on the new motor?

If you're looking for a JDM SOHC VTEC motor, talk to Ismael at http://www.Jspecauto.com. Those engines aren't listed on the website, but I bought my JDM SOHC ZC VTEC from them(engine, tranny, ecu) for 689 US. You'll have to email him at info@jspecauto.com to inquire if he still has them. I think he carries both 1.5 VTECs and 1.6 VTECs in the SOHC form.
