Default d15 exhaust on a d16

A PO swaped a d16z6 to my 93 LX. After looking around a bit, it looks like the stock EX exhaust is a 4-2-1 "header" setup, but whats on mine is just the regular manifold (single down pipe). Is this hurting gas mileage or power? would i seen any noticeable increase of either bay switch to, say, a megan racing 4-2-1 header?

Thats a decent manifold design and you wont see any noticeable gains. You can do it for looks though.

MPG will stay the same.

I ran both on the same engine before, Z6 mainfold makes more power, but I can't remember anymore how dramatic the difference was.

Bolt ons on D's do nothing but move your power around on your power band. So, throwing a Megan Racing header on there will do poop.

yeah, i know that, but i was wondering since the exhaust on it isnt "right" if there was a difference to be had.

You cant really move a power band around without tuning besides increasing the power.

Get an eBay header man. Megan Racing headers are like $100 were as an eGay is $40 LOL.

Oh and fitment is top notch on eBay headers. Im getting an eBay one soon, but thats so I could do a cat delete on my Dx.

Well, I just meant it to say that a 4-1 will push power to the low end, and a 4-2-1 mid to high. It will add SOME, but barely any and it will just weight them on the low or high ends.

you could get the megan racing 4-2-1. i've got one on my dx. you wont really see much of an improvement in power but it will give your car a nicer exhaust tone.

thanks for the info guys. I was really just making sure the d15 exhaust wasnt too restricting and holding things back too much
