I have a 95 civic dx coupe with the slow d15 in it, i want to make it vtec by doing the mini me conversion on it. The only thing that is stoping me is its a automatic (Boooo!) Do i need to buy a automatic head or does it mater if its automatic or manuel and what other parts do i need to make the vtec head run on my mad slow d15 automatic.
Thanks for any sugestions

Re: d15 automatic mini me - Help (jwn7)
Personally, I dont think you will see much of a boost in performance by doing a mini-me. I'd either do an auto-->manual swap and then do a mini-me, boost the stock motor, or just do an engine swap (D16Z6, B16, B18 etc).
If you want to do a mini-me to your auto D15, you'll need all of the parts listed in my writeup...just make sure that the P28 you get is from an AUTO and not a 5SPD

Re: d15 automatic mini me - Help (Ricey McRicerton)
Automatic =
Convert it to manual. It costs $2k-2.5k at your average shop.
A DIY will only cost you some hundreds depending on parts. And that's if you know how to do it in the first place. It isn't that hard, though.
P.S. There may as well be no VTEC in automatics.
