d series vss help!
I have a 96 civic ex 5 speed. Few months ago my vss went out due to running threw a big puddle of water. It would work but the speedo would just jump around everywhere. I replaced it a few months ago. Now out of no where this one has gone on the fritz. For a few days it would only jump around if i gave it more than half throttle. Anything under it would act perfectly normal. but now Its doing the same thing as the original one but when i press in the clutch to shift gears or for whatever reason the speedo stays at the correct speed with no twitching. as soon as i disengage the clutch it goes back on the fritz. Also when i start the car it jumps up to 50 or so then falls right back down. Yesterday i swapped it out with another vss and it didnt work at all. So what do i do from here, do i just swap it out again with a new one and hope and pray that it wont screw up again, or is there some source of tests i can do or something. Kinda broke so its almost out of the question to buy a new one.
TIA,
Jake.

Re: d series vss help!
I have a cluster out of a 98 civic dx, no tach 5speed. Mine is a out of a 96 ex( with tach) and auto, that gonna matter much. I figured i could just change the speedo part out and go from there. Will do that tomorrow. Still would like more input!

Re: d series vss help!
I tested the fuse and the test light was flickering so i took out the fuse and saw the prongs needed cleaning so i took 1000 grit sand paper to them and now its working fine. I changed out the fuse the last time and it didnt help. So i didnt even bother looking there. Thanks for the help. Next time dont be a douche. I asked a question. If your too tired to explain, then dont try to help. It only makes your posts useless and a waste of mine and your time. Have a great evening. Thanks again.

Your right. And thank you for that. No I shall go enjoy driving around again with a working speedo and not relying off my shitty tom tom to tell how fast i might be going....
