Default D series trany specs

Alright guys I've been searching for over an hour and cant find the information I'm looking for.

I have a total of 2.5 tranny's sitting in my garage and one in my car now,

I have no idea what the one in my car is but it is messed up, 5th gear spontaniously told me to *uck off one day and quit and I havent seen it since.

I have a mystery tranny with no markings on it which I know is a dog so its basicly a spare if I really really need one.

I have one from a 95 EX

and the gearinf from my 95 Del Sol Si tranny (No case or diff - hence the .5)

My question is which one would be the best for me to put in the car when I remove the one in there now, When I take it out I plan on opening it up to see what it is before putting anther one in but I want to have one ready to go none the less.

What is the difference in these and which would be best for my car?
D16Z6 btw

Options
j8f P20 (Slow as hell model)
? Mystery tranny in car now
95 EX trans
95 SI trans (del sol) - (gears only I would put this in the slow one to make it into a whatever its called)

Help me out guys!

think the gearing upon the 2 transmissions are the same. so it wouldn't make a difference. correct me if i am wrong though.

Im told theres a slight difference between them, thats why I want to make sure before I go thro all this trouble.

I know the only way to tell them apart without the sticker is to crack them open and inspect them to be sure.

the EX and Si tranny is pretty much the same thing except for 5th gear. the 5th gear in the Si trans is just oh so slightly shorter. pretty much just use either one.. they are the shortest gearing d-series trannies you can use. it'll most like be equal to if not better than your current one, unless, of course, if u have LSD and/or a shorter final drive.

if you dont know what it is, then u probably dont have an aftermarket one. just swap in the EX tranny and it'll be fine.

Alright thanks man,

Does anyone know the specific differences between them? I'd like to have something to that effect for refference for other people. I couldent find much if anything on the topic. Also how do you tell the difference by opening them up? I want to just double check to be sure it is an ex trans before I install it.

Im only interested in first - fourth to be honest, mine dosent have a 5th gear now.

More then anything I want to be sure of the trans Im putting in now, I dont want to put it in and find out its a different one then what I thought it was.

Thanks that answeres a lot of my questions!

All it needs to say is how to check the trans by opening it up, aka how many teeth are for which trans.

Good looking out tho.
