d series transmissions?
Wanted to know if all d-series transmissions are compatible, ex. d16z6,d16y7,and the d17a2 tranny's compatible or not. And which d-series tranny came with a limited slip diff.? thanks

'92 and older D-series transmissions (and '92-93 non-USDM Integra D-series) used a cable-actuated clutch and a rod shift linkage. '88 transmissions have a 21-spline input shaft, while '89+ have a 20-spline input shaft. Some very early D-series transmissions (i.e. from D15A3, D16A1 and olive-top DOHC ZC) have a different bolt pattern and will not bolt up to most modern D engines.
'92-00 D-series transmissions (except for '92-93 non-USDM Integra D-series) used a hydraulically actuated clutch and a rod shift linkage.
'01-05 D-series transmissions used a hydraulically actuated clutch and a cable shift linkage.
What exactly do you need to know is "compatible"? Some parts are swappable between generations, but most aren't. Some specific parts aren't even swappable within generations because of different bearing sizes and gear ratios. Name something specific, and we can help you find exactly what you're looking for.
Are you just looking to swap a complete transmission unit from one car to another?

No USDM D-series transmissions came with an LSD. It was a rare option for some foreign model cars with the VTEC D15B, but is very hard to come by used and is highly demanded. If you don't want to wait around forever, you'd probably be better off to get an aftermarket limited slip diff (such as the Quaife ATB) and install it into a good transmission that you already have.
For transmission questions, it is best to check out the Tech/Misc forum. Read the stickies, search, and ask tranny questions there. Also, you may want to shoot a private message to users Bense and/or Mista Bone, because they are the local transmission gurus.

It was an optional transmission on the d15b and the ZC VTEC, and the older cable ZC's too.
But the gearing is the same as Del sol Si and the EG Si hatch. The LSD is weak and is not compatable with any aftermarket final drives.
Better to get ZC gears with an OBX LSD and 4.25 FD or higher.
