Default D series Tranny problem (Electronic conector)

My buddy pulled the tranny out of his hatch and broke this plug. Can some tell me what this is and how it un-hooks? The way he explained it to me is that the wires are fixed to the plug and they lead back into the main harness, in other words it can't be unhooked. This doesn't seem possible to me, can some one plz help!!!!

Looks almost like the speedo gear.

Just a guess though.

Man if u only knew! Rust gets so bad up that I put my car up for the winter.

Do u have any idea what this is. I know its not for the spedo, i think it may be a reverse switch, but im not sure.

Ok, I know I wont have any reverse lights if thats not hooked up, but will it cause any CEL's? or is there a way to fix it?

if its broken to the point of no rigging something up than get a new one out of junkyard. cheap. will not cause a CEL.
