Default D-series shifter fork interchangable questions... Help quick

Alright..

I went and got some info from the people rebuilding my s20(d16z6) transmission and i need a new shifter fork.. Turns out that there is a deep gash and hunk of metal missing on my shifter fork for 1&2 gears.. Now i searched and i found out that you can not put a d16z6 shifter fork into a d16y8 tranny.. But i was wandering can you put a d16Y8 shifter fork(1&2) into a d16z6 tranny?

If you can do you all reccomend it?

Info that i've found

D16Y8:
Made out of steel and is way stronger then then d16z6 shifter fork.

D16z6:
Made out of alluminum and are not as strong as the d16y8 shifter fork's.

Anyone know ??

I don't believe so. They are not interchangeable from what I understand. You can't swap them one way or the other.

I was under the impression that you could. However, I would take Riceys word for it.

Ok..

Everyone clear this up.

Can you or can you not

I don't want to listen to just one person.
