Default D series setup

I need some opinions before i put it together. Its a d16a6 honed block with eagle connecting rods, pistons, with a d16y8 head, essentially getting a turbo setup.

What do you need to know?????

I don't understand why people build-up D series blocks. A quality turbo costs more than a shortblock. Just boost till it blows than buy another one for 300$.

Because I'm not made of money, and i've got some pretty good deals on these parts.

Personally i don't want to blow up any blocks.

Thats pretty stupid to say. No one else here has anything better to do than drop a couple hundred everyweek and a few days a week to keep pulling motors. your an idiot

A D series is a great starting point. Can be built for less. Great number can come with a build and without a build. Im stock internals now at 10psi, stock interna;s, just cometic head gasket, arp head studs, KMS block guard making 248hp and 234 ft lb tq. building hoping for mid 300's

A friend of mine had mentioned "bigger spark plugs and wires". Any views on that?

No stupid is putting 3000$ of aftermarket parts into a 300$ d series. THat's dumb. I made 220whp on my y7 with completly stock internals. The motor preformed awesome. As long as you don't cheap out on tunning and a fuel system you can make decent power on a stock D.

I got a head in my room(y8) p&p .5mm over sized crower valves, assembled for 500, and have srp pistons and scat h beams rods, in my room that was about 600 and acl bearing kit (40) and ive been qouted by speedquest for the bottom end assembled (hot tanked bead blasted, cylinders honed) for 650-700, not 3000 but its enough.

ok so do the math for me here. if im shooting for a 300-350 whp daily driver, which, neither a stock d series or b series could do SAFETY. if i wanted to turbo a B first id have to aquire a b which for a ls(900ish, still 900 more than building the d) and for a b16 or some with vtakkk your looking at 1500 or more. Plus go internal, your at more than 3000 for a 300 whp car, wasted cash.

If he was shooting for some crazy numbers id say maybe a d but then again there are D seeing 600 + hp
