Re: D series pistons and rods (turbocivic4)
In short, yes. The more boost you run the lower you want your compression. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe that a stock D16z6 runs like 10.5:1 stock That could handle around 10 psi if tuned properly but you still need high octane gas, no less than 91 at the lowest! If you do want to run boost higher than that be prepared to spend 4.00/gallon to run race gas all the time if you stick with 10:1. Try thinking more towards 9.5:1 pistons with a low compression head gasket. You could easily push 14psi on pump gas as long as fuel is managed right

Why go for 10:1 pistons when you can go for A6 pistons that will give you 11.2:1? Those pistons will only run you $30 each and get your rods shotpeaned for under $100. It's only a D-series, come on now.

Re: D series pistons and rods (GapxGuy)
he said he is going turbo not n/a thats why the a6 pistons are no good for his application. the higher the compression the more prone to detonation the engine becomes with boost it becomes even more likey to detonate.

Re: D series pistons and rods (turbocivic4)
ok, lets clean up this mess. stock d16z6 is has a cr of 9.2:1, and the pistons the stock pistons that will give you 11.5:1 are the d16a1 pistons from the newer zc (88-89 i believe)
now if your going to buy those pistons with the intention of just throwing them in and slaping a turbo on, its now going to work. by even asking this question it seems you have not read nearly enough. (this is not a dig on you, but constructive critisim) you will need to spend a bunch of time and money to get it tuned and running properly. go to your local book store, there is a book call turbochargers, buy it and read it get the high performance honda builders handbook vol 1.
hope it helps

Re: D series pistons and rods (Zer0DazE)
LMFAO whats goin on here, first my car has been turbo and running 9 to 10 psi boost for 2 years now with the stock bottom end. Im just curious because someone in my town has 10:1 arias pistons and crower rods and I know these are very expensive stuff and he only wants $450.00. I really never looked into building my bottom end but the ad got me thinking. Im still debating if I should do my bottom end maybe next year but I sure wouldnt mind having the parts for hella cheap. What do you suggest, should i see if I can just score the crower rods from him and get different compression pistons, perhaps ones that will let me overbore my block a little , what do you suggest?? Is all that trouble worth the hasstle of building my bottom I mean im making almost 190 whp now and I know others are making 220 whp with stock bottom end
