Re: d-series compression
you are on the verge of having catistrophic failure or just having your motor die on you in the near future. it take a MINIMUM of 100 PSI to create combustion and burn fuel. below that you will develop a dead cylinder, have predetination and ruin pistons. being 7-14 points above that is not good.
And when you do a compression test, you want the cylinder you are testing to have a full cycle. Intake, compression, power, and exhaust stroke. So you about 4 sec, or 4 cranks w/e suites you.

WRONG, completely. the highes horsepower honda motor built all incorporate vtec. vtec is IMO the heart and soul of hondas makig power.

just because you burn oil at high RPM does not mean you need rings. Many honda's burn oil @ high RPM. My Vitara setup burns oil @ high RPM and my rings are fine.

Re: d-series compression
burns at idle? Your compression is too high for that to happen lol. Maybe headgasket is leaking? and 3500 is pretty damn low for it to be burning oil. I remember my first Y8, that **** was TOTALLY WASTED. It didnt make power for ****, and yet it didnt burn oil (it just leaked it from the Rear Main Seal).
