chip the ecu and ditch the AC, PS, cruise control, ABS stuff, and or save up for a turbo kit and leave it nonvtec

At least swap to a y8 intake manifold, it flows much better then your y7. or better yet do a full mini-me swap. get some extra power, and a better setup for boost etc. you don't have to take off ac and ps, you can get plenty of kits that fit with them.

ya i was thinkin about doing a mini-me swap, i have a y7 intake manifold and i dont have AC but im thinkin about getting it from the junkyard ..its getting really hot now!

can some one list down the parts i need to do the mini me swap? and all the parts i need for the AC system.

some guy is selling a y8 intake manifold close to my place ....do i just simply take mine off and replace it with his?> direct bolt on?

yes you can do that. you need the head of course, vtec selonoid
new head gasket
new coolant
good idea to change oil
a vtec ecu, wire it. or get the $40 msd activator box wich is stupid and ghetto
a good im and then wala.

D series bolt ons dont pan out well as far as hp gains are concerned. The best thing for a stock d series is either A.) leave it stock and drive it as a DD. This way you dont worry about blowing it up.. or B) Turbo it.

if you dont know how to turbo it, then look it up. Not trying to sound like a *expletive delete* head, but this literally gets covered once a week.

The only way to get any sort of power increase is to turbo it. Building a d series is stupid and pointless.

With the V-tec head, exhaust, header, throttle body some MSD ignition, proper wires and maybe some injectors (what injectors could you possibly use I happen to have a set of GSR injectors w/ the fuel rail sitting around) what HP increase would you get? +30?

+30hp would just get you addicted and want some more. so might as well get a big motor and turbo it..but emobacon has a good idea. do that and then youl know if you want more, everybody does though

Skip the bolt ons and turbo. Go to homemadeturbo.com and read through the projects for WHAT NOT TO DO. Honestly if you just spend a couple of days reading into it, you will know enough about it to do it properly and its the best thing for a single cam. Dont want to push it to the limits? then just run safe boost, 5 or 6 pounds.

It definately gets hot and very, very humid here. Humidex isnt what it would be in Florida or the like but its very high, like 80%+.

+30hp definately would take care of that asthmatisism that comes with having a d-series engined vehicle that isnt less that 2300 lbs...and its definately worth it if you have the stuff lying around and its no big deal. Personally I'd rather spend the money on a worthwhile base that starts off on a level that would be considered 'double' what a d-series would be able to muster through its sohc head. I'm not a huge fan of just "slapping on a turbo".

what exhaust are you using with the test pipe? Im using a skunk2 test pipe with ws2 catback and it made it a little louder, really just a deeper sound, but not very much.
