Re: d series block question (Prudz_lude)
my friend had a boosted a6 in his CRX, it ran pretty good until he threw a rod...
build yours right and you shouldnt have any problems
IMO id just spend the time looking for a z6 block

Re: d series block question (Prudz_lude)
no, z6 is the strongest of the d series thats compatible with that head. the y7 and y8 block will make ignition timing off and the a6 block will work but will raise compression and is weaker than the z6. and dont even think about the 1.5 blocks

Re: d series block question (boosted92hatch)
Ok guys, i think i need to clarify something. I don't care how strong the blocks are stock. They will all support 300whp if i drop some forged internals in them. I just need to know which block i can use for my z6 head without running into issues when i swap it into my 92 VX hatch. The VX is economy vtec and obd1. this is my issue. Please try and explain this to me. I am extremely new to civics. I have been dealing with preludes for the last 3 years until now.

Re: d series block question (nix94delsol)
yah i read that mini me thread. Its funny, its what is making me buy a new block. I have a vx and it says don't waste your time because of low compression. However, wouldn't that be a good thing with a turbo? If i turbo'd my vx block with the z6 head i would just aim for 180whp so its nice, safe, and conservative.
I have been told the wiring is very simple since my vx already has vtec wired in and has a vtec soloniod. I have a z6 wiring harness, intake manifold, injector, fuel rail assembly that was given to me. Is there only one engine wiring harness? My prelude had 2 engine harnesses.
My main concern is the wiring and ecu crap. If i get a z6 block i will have to convert from obd1 to obd2. I have no clue what ecu i need, and no clue what wiring harness i need, or even how many pieces there are to the harness

Re: d series block question (nix94delsol)
u do what your freind says and i will 100% gaurentee your car runs like ****. the y7 block is compatible with the y8 head but if u put the z6 head on that block at idle, the car will be fireing 2 degrees out of timing. as u accelerate the timing will get even worse. u can google and research it all u want. i have done this and i thought i had the belt wrong and even tried to use an adjustable cam gear to make up the 2 degrees. IT DOES NOT WORK.my car ran like crap and i had perfect compression so it wasnt the motor. it would misfire and all kinds of other timing issues. DO NOT DO THIS!! find a z6 block, and yes u should care how strong the block is, rods and pistons dont change the blocks strenght. it changes the blocks internal parts strenght. why do u think they make dart blocks.

Re: d series block question (boosted92hatch)
thanks boosted92hatch. I had no clue they made dart blocks honestly lol. i'll look for a z6 assembly i guess. This means i have to convert from obd1 to obd2 correct? Does a hondata s300 still work with obd2?

Re: d series block question (Prudz_lude)
why would u want to do anything obd2? d16z6 is obd1. if u have a 92/95 civic, just put the z6 in there, u can actually plug the ex harness right into the existing harnesses and remove your vx harness, plug a p28 ecu in your car and that is all u need to do
