you can use the clutch slave cylinder but nothing else, everything else have to be for a b-series tranny

I've used the electronic half of OBD1 D-series VSS's on B-series trannys before, but i'm not sure if you can use the bottom half.

They make a kit where u can use your b series tranny on your d series motor. Not sure how to do it but will post a DIY thread when I get around to it after my z6 is finished and ready for boost.

O ok...that makes sense...seems like the gearing would be different and throw off the speedo.

I'm at witts end right now dealing with a 90's tranny on a 66 step-side chevy trying to convert from vss to cable driven...gotta order all kinds of custom gearing

Same here, a couple times. Don't know about the bottom half, never had that part
go bad. It wouldn't be too surprising if they were exactly the same though.

It doesn't work like that. You could use a complete VSS from a B16 in a GS-R and it
would be accurate.

It basically measures how fast the diff is spinning and converts that to mph or km/h.

I do know auto and manual bottom halves are different. I think the top halves are all the same (pretty sure F and H use the same top half as B and D as well.
