D or B series alternator, OBD1 or 0? Need help immediately.
I asked this same question in the Integra section, but only got one answer, so I'm going to ask here quick.
I have a 93 Civic hatch with a 1995 GSR swap. After installing a 500 and a 250 watt amp for the 4 speakers and 2 subwoofers, my car's battery light came on while I had the regular headlights and radio with the amps on. I drove for around 4 days during the daylight with no issues.
I need to know if an OBD1 alternator off a SOHC Civic will work. This is a temporary fix just so I can get to and from work until I get a new alternator.
On to the new alternator. What, if any difference is there between an OBD0 versus OBD1 alternator? Acura lists two different part numbers, and so does Advance Auto.
Any help will be appreciated.

The alternator plugs will probably be different. It could mount up but you won't be able to get it connected.

i put a 93 gsr in my 93 hatch so they were both obd1 so alternator plugs were the same. why would you wanna know about an obd0 alt if your running an obd2 motor in an obd1 car? if your using an obd2 harness then im assuming it wouldnt work since they have different plugs.

The 1995 GSR is still obd1. The clips are the same for obd1 civic-teg but the obd0 won't work.

That guys said that the plugs are the same, they're just oriented different.
I looked up part numbers for alternators and the DA, DC and Civic Del Sol VTEC use the same rectifier, I'm assume similar rotors but with more winding on the DC for more amps. The regulators are what I'm having issues with...

I looked at high output alts on eBay and other places, and some list them fitting 90-95 Integras, others are 94-95. Something being listed as fitting an OBD0 and 1 engine didn't make sense to me. Thanks though, I'll be getting a high amp alternator soon.

You can use an OBD-II alternator if you want. That's what I did on my B16A2 SiR swap and also another LS-VTEC in a EJ chassis. The one thing is that your engine wiring harness will have the wrong connector. Simple fix though, go to a pull apart junk yard and clip the alternator harness from any OBD-II integra and you'll be good. Reference the service manual for soldering in the new connector. You could do the same if you really wanted to drop an OBD-0 alt in there but I'd say a better bet would be go with OBD-II if you can't find a good high output alternator for the OBD-I.
I will say this, a D-series alternator will not bolt up properly to your GSR swap, so make sure whatever alternator you get is for a B-series engine.

Ok, I hooked up the SOHC alternator today. The bottom mounts up 100% right, and the top is just a hair off. I'm using a second bracket just to rig it slightly to get to work tonight and I'm putting a slightly altered DOHC mount off a DA Integra after work. My alt bracket I had was cast iron, and the one I got off a DA was stamped steel. All I had to do was grind a little out of the slide area on the top and right, if you look at it from the driver's side fender. And, I am using a SOHC alternator belt off a D15B7 to take out a little slack. The alternator has a tiny gap, like 1/16in between it and the mount, but a thin washer will fix that.
