I did some searching but didn't have much like, but does anyone know the weight difference between an EK D16 automatic tranny and the manual tranny? Or is there not that huge of a difference?

Im not sure off the top of my head but i'm sure the 5 speed is around 10-20 pounds lighter.

and noticeably smaller than the auto tranny, makes for easier installation and removal and make the engine bay look cleaner

Well that's the reason I ask, I'm doing an auto-to-manual swap shortly, and I'm told that the auto is heavier, but I can't find out any specific weight differences. Just curious how much mass I'm cutting, and mostly for ride height purposes (if that makes sense). Right now if it's just me in the car there's no rubbing, but with some passengers the front right will rub over bumps, so I'm wondering if the weight difference might be big enough to help this. Also, my front sits down a bit more than the rear right now, and I want to keep it that way, or at the very least not have a droopy backend.

the auto was probably more than just 10-20 lbs it seemed retarded amounts heavier than the manual.

If you have the auto in your car and am looking to a manual swap weight is not why you should want to do it. it is a benefit don't get me wrong but your acceleration time is the difference not the weight.

Not to mention better gas mileage as long as you drive reasonably.

hella acceleration difference, if your doing the auto swap good luck defenately worth it tho

If you are doing the auto to manual swap search or just hit me up i can give you some tips i did one on my 2000 Ex Civic coupe.

HELLA acceleration I think I gained about a whole second in the 1/8th mile my first time down the track. If that tells you what the difference is like.

Thats more like it. I can pick up a 5 speed D-series tranny with 1 hand. I can't even lift a D-series automatic alone with both hands.

X2, the Auto weighs alot more, or sure as heck seems to. I have a D-Series EX/Si 5-speed tranny in my garage and a D-Series EX Auto tranny in my shop. If no one has gotten any numbers by Monday I will get a set of scales and weigh them both and post up the numbers.

i got a number in my head that the auto weighs around 70 lbs without fluids but with the torque converter inserted.

the manual probably somewhere around 35-40lbs just my bet. if i had the transmissions laying around i would weigh them but i don't

i thought i remember reading somewhere that the auto is 50 pounds heavier, i recently did this swap and my front would scrape on speed bumps and inclines sometimes and now it doesn't at all

This is exactly what I'm trying to figure out, right now with my auto I get some scraping on the right side over certain bumps and hard lefts, and I'm hoping that the manual is light enough that it will help eliminate this.
