Default cx swap to d16z6 help!

I swapped out my engine for a d16z6. It was a running local engine so, I know it was legit. I have everything in the swap complete. But im not getting it to start....It will turn over but not start...I know I have fuel cause I had a small leak the first time I tried to start it.

I converted to a 4 wire 02 sensor and ran into some issues there...Cause as I have read it was not suppose to have pins/wires in the locations but it did. So I spliced them with wire splicers. The only other thing I can think was the dizzy was really tight to put in....I had to set it in place and then tighten the bolts to get it in...but it was in line with the cam...could it be 180 out? I know the firing order is correct cause I found a pic....I have the old dizzy from my cx engine....could I swap them out just to try? If nothing else works.

As a side note...when I turned it over I heard some wired clicking type noise coming from underneath the dash...near the fuse panel every time I turned the key. Im thinking I have some wiring issues or firing....

help

Thanks
Steven

Your CX dizzy will not work for your new engine so don't waste your time trying. Also, I don't think i've ever had a hard time getting one into place.. Is the dizzy the one that was already on the engine when you bought it?

the timing belt was never messed with, though I checked it before dropping the motor in and it looked in top shape. As a side bar timing cover bolts had never been touched. ..The motor was running fine when it was pulled and I bought it....I made sure to keep the parts separated when I was working. The dizzy was very tough to get it.....I had to set it in the hole with it lined up and then tighten the bolts to get it to go in....it was a first for me....I have never had one be such a pain to get in.

I was really wondering about all the wire splicing I had to do...I know there are other cx hb's on the board with swaps...I just was curious if they had similar experiences with wiring.

I did this exact swap into my sold hatch. The only wire i had to touch was for the vtec.. And that was simple. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=724252 This link will show you how. again.. also, your dizzy should not have been that hard to get in. double check that!

The dizzy only goes in one way, and it goes in easy, if you lined up the tooth on the dizzy with the cam, and it did fit, you need to turn the tooth on dizzy 180' and match it up to the cam again. that's your prob. bro, you didn't match up the dizzy right

Well, i got the dist. prob fixed....I pulled it back out and checked everything...realigned it and it slid right in after several tries. I got it started but Im having idle issues....I have been on the search for the better part of a couple hours now and got some ideas to try. Thanks for the replies...if anyone can throw in their 2 cents about my idle issues...id appreciate it. Its slowly coming alive...it was good to hear her run...now if I can get these couple issues figured out, its time for the body work.

Are you still using the PO6 ECU that came with the cx engine? The Z6 needs a P28 to run right.

no im running a p28....it idle surges from about 500 - 900. Im gonna double check all my connections and vacuum lines. Its getting there. I just wanna get it wrapped up so I can start on the rest of the car...so far I bought the shell for 300. the engine drop out for 600. So I cant complain.

Im not gonna get to check the code today....SNOW!!! But when I searched it came up with alot of the same no spark problems but no thread really offered any solutions. I know someone has had to figure this out. I checked every relay and fuse....all good. Im getting power to the dizzy through the main black yellow lead in the 2 wire connector....does anyone know what wires should be hot in the other connector pack for the dizzy? I just can figure out why it started and ran, and did it repeatedly and then the next day nothing. Problem is I didnt touch a thing! Someone help please!

I had the same problem putting a d16z6 in a dx. The pin on the back of the distributer that holds the part that lines up with the cam broke. Pull your cap off and see if the rotor turns.

garage day:

Well its cold, but I couldnt wait...so I go to work.

Diagnosis BAD!!!!!!!!!!

I think Im in serious need of help.

The Yellow/green wire that goes from the dizzy back to the ecu...no power...Then came the bad news..I looked at the connector pack and on that wire It had a little black....BAD...So I pulled the map and a few other sensor connectors and the same thing...no power and a little black where the connection is made.

Now Im stuck...It didnt blow the ECU fuse or any other fuse or relay that I could find. Under the hood fuses and the inside fuses are all good. As far as I can tell the drivers side harness is still getting juice cause every other wire in the the dizzy was hot and reading good VT. Nothing on the passenger side.

SO.....

Any suggestions? Im thinking the engine harness is shot...Does this mean it blew every sensor?

For addition info that I think I already posted...I reused the cx harness and added the proper wires and they were connected to proper connections....But I did miss the ground by the thermo....and I think that is where my troubles began.

HELP GUYS!!!

Thanks

I would get a good wire diagram and check continuity from the pins on the ecu to the end of the plugs.

I got my new harness and im still getting no spark. While it did correct some of dead leads. I have an electrical gremlin somewhere and I am running out of ideas.

I am not getting ignition input signal to the distributor (yellow/green)

I have followed it all the way back to the ecu and nothing...the only thing I noticed is in the above diagram. Yellow/Green becomes Red/Green it suppose to go and split to A21 and A22. My CX ECU Harness only goes to A21. But I tried splitting the signal and nothing.

Could the main relay be the source of my problems. I am getting fuel but no spark. All my grounds are good and everything is working down to the tail lights but NO SPARK!!!! I know the ecu is good cause I randomly disconnected things for it to throw codes and it detected every single one.

Any suggestions?

I'm lost.....

Check and see if the spring is still on the coil. I had one fall off once and didn't notice it. Took me forever to find out what it was. Spring came off and got no sparky.
