Re: cx pistons (skunk2eg)
thanks but i have an ex and i found out if u put cx pistons in it boosts the comp to 12:1 or so
just wondering where i could find some
( this is on pump gas too) ive heard it works

Ummm....you may want to double check that....

Re: cx pistons (Ricey McRicerton)
could be tru, not positive tho...i know 88-91 DX pistons give a higher compression when put in a differnt motor. i think only zc have higher dome for d series...find the compression calculator, it lets u choose the pistons and block adn head...

you might want to make sure you are getting pistons with 4 valve reliefs or your valves are going to be mad at you

Re: cx pistons (BauleyCivic)
yes the 92-95 2 valve pistons would up compression (I've seen pictures and they are domed), but since they only have 2 valve reliefs they won't work in a four valve setup.
Unfortunatly people never specify what year their CX is, so we can't help them properly.

Re: cx pistons (civicminded92)
Wow, thats a great compression calculator. Just keep in mind that none of those pistons listed are the 2 valve CX pistons (D15B8). These pistons are rare, and most people that take their D15B8's apart find D15B7 (4 valve) pistons installed from the factory...
Can't tell ya why.

Re: cx pistons (KingOfQB)
If it's an early 92, it'll be the odd 2v piston. Late 92 - 95 cx piston switch to the PM3 DX piston, which is a 4v relief piston. More than likely this is just "economy of scale" at work, Honda had many PM3's and they'll work like a charm on the CX engine.

it pushes them up a little more</TD></TR></TABLE>
Yeah 3mm out of the block! PM3 pistons in a D16Z6 will destroy the head...

Hilarious how people tell others things as though they are proven facts when in reality everything they say is total BS!!!!!
You don't want CX pistons, period, so forget that whole notion. If you want to raise compression any SIGNIFICANT amount, use d16a6 (PM6) or ZC/d16a1 (PM7 or P29).
The stroke is 5.5mm shorter on D15 engines(that's 2.75mm lower at TDC), and the rods are 3mm shorter. But Honda didn't just add material on top the piston to fill the space up, they lowered the top of the block.
I don't know by how much, but in any case using D15 parts in a D16 will give results you can't predict. And in this case you now know what will work for you so it would be pointless to buy brand new stuff you have no idea what the outcome will be.

dx d15b7 pm3 pistons will give higher compression that the pm6, but i dunno about what was said about them coming out of the blocl or why, never head that before but who knows.
the zc pm7 or d16a1 p29 pistons will give the highest compression
