Hi,
My Integra GSR was totaled about a week ago and I just recently purchased a 97 CX hatchback. I'm just wondering what the gas milage on one is. It came with 18" rims and I'm getting about 30 highway right now. Are the rims gonna have that much effect on them? I've seen some peeps posting about 39-40 per gallon with a CX.

Try running some of that injector cleaner through, check the air filter, and yes the rims will have a HUGE affect on it.

If it makes you feel better i'm running my winter 14's on my 97EX, and I just cashed in at 200, on the odo, runnin on an almost empty tank.

I have a 92 cx with stock 13 inch steelies and average around 40 mpg.

Well, I just put the stock 13" stealies and it as alot better. The gas milage and acceleration is way different.

i'd definately think they woudl affect the CX model.considering how little power it has,it'd have to work even harder to deal with those heavy wheels....
in my DX EG with D16Z6,i normally get around 40MPG with a lot of highway driving.

question how fast do you guys usally drive on highway? and what RPM does it stay while driving normally?

I have a 92 cx hb with 17's and I get around 40mpg also

Larger diameter wheel and tire combos will increase your gas mileage assuming they don't weigh a shitload more.

the effect on the overall final drive will definately help with gas mileage due to the lower cruising RPM,but not when you're at WOT 100% of the time just to try to make 70HP move them.
after driving my mom's totally stock CX,i can say the gearing,as is,is definately optimal for fuel mileage.

yeah u have a d16y7 which is the same in all 96-00 CX/DX/LX's the old 92-95 came with a 70HP engine ours is an 107HP the HX model is the one that gets good gas milage in the 96-00 because it have VTEC-E. I get 35mpg no matter how hard i drive mine urs kinda sucks. i would look into a tune up and check the timing.

Yeah, I just put some 15" rims with 50 profile tiers. I've been getting about 35-37 miles per gallon. I still need to give this car a tune up. But I'm happy so far.
