Default cv joint replacement

hello everyone, i've come over from the mr2 oc because i have a friend whose left side half shaft on his 92 civic has a torn boot. it also clicks on left turns. in my mk1 mr2, drive shaft replacement is pretty simple; unbolt six bolts attaching the axle to the tranny, compress the inner joint, and pop the end out of the wheel hub with a rubber mallet (more or less). so i'm wondering if this procedure on a civic is essentially the same. also, if it is already clicking does that mean it is too far gone to simply get a boot kit (it seems like there's already some dirt in the boot)? any advice would be much appreciated. thank you,

travis

thanks, i didn't see that thread (newbies are a pain huh lol). i'm assuming there is no connection between the axle replacement and the tranny fluid change. he just likes to do them together right? oh by the way, i don't need an alignment after this do i? thanks,

travis

the biggest p.i.t.a is the lower balljoint. if you have a pittman puller you're set. doing it on the ground it's hard to get a good swing at it...

thanks for the reply. after messing with hte balljoints will it be necessary for an alignment, or there any way to assure that the alignment remains okay? thanks again,
