CV Boots

Re: CV Boots (Jeff Lawrence)
are they torn? If not then you should be fine. Take it from me though if they are bad don't replace the cv boots, replace the whole axle. Its half the hassle and costs about $20 more but well worth the extra little bit. Most new axles have lifetime warranty also.

Re: CV Boots (NVMYSi)
it cost me about $200 to replace both axles. that's if you do it yourself. Around where I am shops will charge you at least 500 for the job. If you are going to have a shop do it, just get new boots unless they already ripped open. Have a look at them inner and outer look for any leaks or signs of cracking. My passenger side outer cv boot ripped open at 94500 miles. All of the other ones were about to go so I just replaced the axles with new ones from autozone. Life time warranty

You can pick a boot replacement kit for about $30.
Should come with the clamps, CV axle grease and new boots. Takes about 30 minutes to do.
I wouldn't do it unless your CV boots are broken.

yes I would replace the boots then.
cv axle grease is a bitch to clean up when it sprays all over the engine bay.
