Default cutting out at 7500 rpm's

i have a jdm b16a and my car is cutting out once i hit about 7500 rpms. its like its hitting the rev limiter and shutting it down. i just had my oil changed the other day and the oil level is full. i also changed out my speed sensor yesterday because i was having speedometer problems. i was hoping changing out the speed sensor would have fixed both problems but it didnt. today, i will be replacing the fuel filter, spark plugs, and plug wires. any ideas or suggestions to whats wrong?

try a buddies/someones ECU for a B16 and see if it does it with theirs.. that would be a good place to start.

ECU's do take a **** from time to time.

sounds silly but did you put decent fuel in it.

i put cheap 97 ron in to get home once, and the car kept hesistating at the rpm you are describing. i eased off for fear of deteonation.

put some nice 99 ron in it and it ran fine. sorry forgot to add mines b16 jdm also.

sometimes vtec isnt kicking in clear up to 6-7k rpms then it will kick in. sometimes it kicks in and runs good all the way up to 8k rpms with no sputtering or bogging at all. its really random the way my car is running right now.

Must be your oil pump pressure, mine does the same. My vtec works then when hit like 7k to 7.5k on 3rd gear then vtec stop working. After changing oil pump, its working fine after all.

everyone is saying something completely different. i guess the only thing to do is start replacing parts and see what eventually solves the problem.

No, don't waste your money. Start with a tune-up. A worn rotor and distributor cap can cause this. -Later, BR
