custom exhaust questions and stuff....
well, i am going to be putting together a custom exhaust for my car in the next month or so (tax return ). i have decided on the 2.25" es oval muffler and some sort of high flow cat. i will also be getting a nice set of headers, although i am not sure which ones yet. my questions are these: first of all, i need to get all of the piping for the exhaust. i know that places like jcwhitney carry the 2.25" mandrel bent pieces but i am not sure what sizes, bends, etc i will need to run the exhaust. has anyone out there done this, and if so, do you have a parts list of what lengths of the pipe i would need as well as which bends to buy to make all of the piping run in the stock locations? second, pertaining to the headers, will they have the 2.25" opening to match the high flow cat and the rest of the exhaust, or am i going to run into a bottleneck here? if everyting will work alright.....which headers so you guys recommend the most? (i am mostly looking at DC 4-2-1 right now). last question: i am going to paint the exhaust (piping, muffler) flat black. do i need to use some sort of primer/etchant on the polished muffler to get the paint to stick well or can i just spray on any high temp flat black? thanks for all your help. i know some of you have done this but none of my questions were answered when i did a search. looking forward to some good info. thanks again.

p.s. the car is a 94 civic coupe with d16z6....thanks....

since the DCsports headers are CARB. legal the exhaust tubing is the same as ur OEM...but the design of the headers allow for a smoother flow of the exhaust gas..this is what i did..DC headers and 2 1/4 in piping from the cat back to a hiflow muffler...the muffler shop charged me $190 for the entire setup

try to get a complete ITR piping. it should fit the coupe, i know it fits hatches.
you can find it used for cheap, but you gotta look around...
if not, just take everything to your local muffler shop that does mandrel bending and have them put it together. as for the cat, just hollow your stock or get a cat for like a mustang 5.0 or a camaro. that should work fine...

DC STUFF SUCKS if you have a motor swap then it is not carb exempt anyway so you don't need that stuff i would get jdm 4-1 header stock type r piping cause it is 2.25 mandral bent and get your es muffler with a high flow cat and that will make way more power than any dc crap
