Custom delsol Harness bar group buy interests?
Hey guys im in the process of talking to a guy that is willing to duplicate the harness bar that i have installed in my sol. At the moment i dont have pics, but i will take some. its 1.50x.125 and legal for scca, nasa and most other sanctioning bodies, it is also very rigid and provides a very nice brace in a very needed place. it installed where the top of you factory seatbelt is and also bolts to the back of the car. The welds will be top notch tig welds, and the bars will all be built in a delsol so they will all fir perfectly. right now im quoting the price at around 150 shipped, but im not 100% sure it will probably be less than that but im trying to play it safe. if you ahve any questions feel free to e-mail me at slamminsonoma@aol.com or just post your questions. Im also thinkin abou thaving a prototype made to fit other vehciles, probably CRX's and tegs too, maybe even civics if the demand is high enough.

right click the links, go to properties, copy address and paste in address bar of a new window. then the pics work. looks pretty good. I still don't think its safe to put a harness on it (that should really only be done on a roll cage), but i'm sure it'll help reinforce the car for the turns.

Re: (IHateJDM)
why dont you think its 'safe' to put a harness on? it is build to roll cage specs out of the same material that a roll cage would have to be build from for nasa specs. the bar is not going anywhere. as far as if its safe to actually wear the harnesses on the street thats the call of the driver. i personally do it, and know a few people that do.

a roll cage is welded to the frame. if you were to roll the car and the top were to crush away from you, the harness will pull back and sandwich you into the seat. you bones will break before the seat gives. A roll cage will hold its position relative to the seat. I know its not likely for something like this to happen, but i wouldn't want the seatbelts to be the cause of serious injury.

no, in fact I'm saying the bar is too strong, . If you don't drive your car hard enough to roll it then it wouldn't matter. I would still say its worth the $150 just for the extra bracing though, and I'm sure we all know how hard it is to find a cage for a sol.

im having a cage built in mine in the next few months to honda challenge specs. and i was talking to the guy designing it and he was intrested in making some harness bars, he just wants to make sure were going to be able to sell them. and yes i promise its worth the money just for the bracing.

looks interesting, but i'm still not a fan to put a harness bar on my car for the same reasons as IHateJDM.
how about making some of those rollcages ??? pics and specs of that would be nice too

dumbest statement ever. I am sure that those who flip there car did it on purpose, and the normal driver that flips there car was just driving their car too hard. Rolling a car is somethign that no one ever wants to happen to them, and when it happens, half the time it is out of just bad luck
Harness bars = unsafe, no matter what kind of driver you are or driving you are doing.

Sorry but i disagree with you saying that harness bars are unsafe. the harness bar is perfectly safe. and as far as actually wearing the harness id say in 95% of the accidenst you could be involved in there is no better place i can think of being except right there strapped to that seat. rolloveres excluded, then i would just not want to be in the car. Rollovers are usually the fault of the vehicle doing the rolling. E-mail me if you want info on the cage, or if you are serious about the bar. i will be making an e-mail list to keep everyone updated these forums are pretty hard to keep up with.

If that happened it would be the freak off all freak accidents. How would the rear of the car rip away from the rest at the point in front of the harness bar, and cause the seat belts to crush the driver? Maybe if it was going end over end. I don't even think that is physically possible. Anyway, more than likely an accident will have a head on impact, if you flipped, it would look more like this...
