curses, rod knocking
It's not really bad right now only once I go above 3k otherwise you can't hear it at all. This is in my daily driver. It's a boosted y7. Question is the engine still salvageable? I have some good z6 rods and pistons or am I **** outta luck? If not can I just drop the pan and pull out the rods and swap the z6 setup in there? Help!!!!!!

Re: curses, rod knocking (egizzle6)
most of the time the noise is being caused by the bearings. the Z6 pistons and rods dont change your compression so your turbo wouldnt be an issue if you were to put those into your y7 motor. you will want to figure out which bearing sizes you will need for your motor. my guess is that it could use some new rod bearings

on one of my old turbo setups i would have some trouble with occasional overheating. i would loose a little bit of coolant but the head gasket wasnt completely blown, but it finally did go. you might want to look into scooping up another fresh sohc motor, or you might want to look into some eagle rods and vitara pistons. might be a good winter project

Re: curses, rod knocking (lohatch)
if you got knock you migh as well get another d. When one bearing goes, all others will, engine starts starving on oil, loose oil pressure, not a good thing.
It will cost to damn much, and that 3,000rpm thing, when my D went the motor would knock until like 2,500-3000 rpms and then it would quite down too.
