Default CTR stock dyno

ok go ahead and cry about how gay it is to get a ctr motor but for all those to who care, this is a stock baseline. only mod is a an INDIVIA exhaust .as you could see i need to lower the vtec a bit, but if i did im sure it would be right around 160. im so glad how high it made power. ran the roadcourse today and and it was unbelivable. ive got a gsr motor and a 2 liter i was considering throwing in, but not after today. not bad if you ask me. but i could use a little more torque

Nice dyno for stock, but that torque curve sucks...oh well, thats how it is with a b16. I still LOVE b16's , i think they are very fun motors. And I don't think its stupid to get a b16b, its a rare motor and something different than the normal B18C1 or B16A...

dang, that's a flat torque curve. now get some mods to bump it up.

not bad, but not impressive for a motor which costs twice as much as b16a. i would rather get a B18C which is within +-$200 of b16b

my old b16a, with Tanabe header, RSr exhaust and Mugen ECU (spoon ECu simply sucks)

Solid #'s for that motor, but as eg6ajk points out...you can get those #'s out of a b16a with bolt-ons for less money that the cost of the b16b.

you guys are right, but what he didint mention was that he got the motor for nothing, so its nice for being in stock trim, and a daily driver/road racer

same price for those number??? ummmm don't think sooo....

i had 1999 b16a

put down 155 and 112
engine tranny 2500
chipped p28 250
header 400
vafc 350
exhaust (i had stock exhaust)
ITR intake manifold 225
aem ITR cold air 225

that's 3950 i had in my B16
and I STILL DIDN"T HAVE A LSD TRANNY!!!! hmmmm

i think those numbers are good....and for 500 more i would have started with the same thing and had good tranny and ENGINE!!!!!!!

i mean for some B16A is not an option (OBDII vs (most b16a are OBDI or non-obd)), plus LSD is not too common on Y21/S21 trannies either, and so many more upgrades, at times its just cheaper to add few buck and get that.

did the b16b ran with 2.5" collector (or USDM specs ITR)? also what octane gas?

Nothing is free. If you are gonna say you got it for free and you didn't steal it, then you have to provide some details. Thanks

yes it came with a 2.5 inch collector. you dont even wanna know how a n-rigged a stock b16 cat to fit it for emmisions...and well for all the douche bags that still wanted to go off on how the ctr sucks, bla bla rip off. ect ect...i thought i made it clear in my first post i dont care..
motor came with the car when i bought it, im sure theres not too many hot b16b's in the states. although im sure i could be wrong. this is not a argument post. just a dyno plot for all those with their two cents who could tell
thanks to those with the positive replys

What would lowering the vtec do? How can you tell you need to lower it?

arent you supose to set your vtec to where the torque intercepts the hp ? thats what i always did. well roughly i think .. see where these to intercept? you can imagine how much smoother the power band would be liek that..

Lowering the VTEC engagement point would get rid of that bigass jump in the graph by eliminating the power loss of the low end cams right before VTEC.

Edit: Darn, too late.

Torque and horsepower are always exactly equal at 5252 RPM . . . so no, that wouldn't be right.

You're supposed to set the engagement point low and tune the high-RPM cam profiles, then set the engagement point high and tune the low RPM profiles. Then you set the VTEC engagement at the point where the high-RPM and low-RPM graphs cross.
