Check out my website: jdmfan.com

Look for the how-to of recovering the armrests with vinyl.

There should be several brass screws on the backside of the door panel that you can remove to take out the armrests.

I did it in my hatch. What you need to do is this....

Take a drill bit and drill the melted plastic on the back of the armrest. There will be quite a few of these plastic "welds". Be VERY careful not to drill too far and poke through the other side.

Then put the CTR armrest in place and screw very small screws thru the armrest and into the plastic or re-melt the armrest in place. I re-melted but I think screwing is a better plan. If you choose to screw be careful not to come thru the other side. If you choose to melt, keep an ice cube handy to cool the melt quickly and try not to keep it too hot for too long, don't want to warp the plastic.

Use a soldering iron if you choose to melt it back on.

Also, don't try to PRY the armrest off because you will get white colored stress marks in the plastic on the good side of the doorpanels.

Hope that helps.... here's a pic of the finished product.

Yeah, that's a pretty good how-to! I wrote it up a little different on my web page:
