CTR Clone......

Hello fellow h-t members.

Ive been looking around for this but i cant seem to find it anywhere. I was wondering what teh price range would be to make a stock EK hatch look like the Civic Type-R's. What would you need and how much are we looking at spending for the whole thing?

Thanks

Rodzknight 01-07-2008 09:05 PM

10-15 grand, my guess

Re: CTR Clone...... (charmander)

What year EK hatch? Now are you just wanting the looks or the performance as well?

Re: CTR Clone...... (charmander)

Wouldn't take a whole lot to make it LOOK like a type-r.

alacard 01-07-2008 09:37 PM

Re: CTR Clone...... (charmander)

CTR headlights 300-500
CTR/SI grill or replica 50-150
CTR/SI/Replica front and rear lips 100ish each?
CTR/replica mirrors ?
Paint

There you go...Now just get a few type r stickers.

NOFX 01-07-2008 09:47 PM

Here's just some of what you'd need to do. I'd say $10-15k to do a complete conversion would be a really good price.

- Full JDM B16B swap
- Larger front brakes
- Rear disk brakes
- Rear wiper removal (if DX)
- Strut tower bar
- Front sway bar
- Rear sway bar
- Rear subframe with brace brackets and subframe brace
- Front and rear rebar
- Five lug conversion.
- Paint car Championship White, Phoenix Yellow, Flamenco/Starlight Black or Vogue Silver Metallic
- Front lip, rear lip and sideskirts (all paint matched)
- Wheels
- Mirrors
- Spoiler
- Grille
- Hood emblem
- Side markers
- Emblems and stickers
- Headlights
- Taillights
- All painted trim (mirrors, side molding, side skitrs, plate garnish)
- Bronze glass
- Thin side moldings
- Carpet
- Floormats
- Seats (front and rear)
- Gauge cluster
- Replace all interior panels with black (TYPE D) panels
- Shift knob
- Shift boot
- RHD conversion

The following is what you need just for the right hand drive conversion.

-- Dash
-- Climate control
-- Climate control bezel
-- Radio / Navigation / etc.
-- Steering wheel
-- Antenna on other side
-- Hatch Release on other side (if equipped)
-- Hood release on other side
-- Fuel door release on other side
-- Firewall and various parts associated with firewall
-- Roof handle on other side
-- Wipers and wiper cowl
-- Sun visors
-- Power door locks and window controls on other side (if equipped)
-- Door open alarm on other side

Holy super-long mod list batman! He said he wanted it to look like a CTR, not BE a CTR. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

I wasn't sure if he really just wanted it to look like one only since his thread title is "CTR Clone......".

NOFX 01-07-2008 10:27 PM

Re: (NOFX)

If he just wants the look, then maybe he can skip the suspension parts and the engine. Basically everything else counts. If you want a car to look like a CTR, it has to be RHD since they were all RHD.

Some pics for the OP to reference.

I'd love to see this done in real life, just so I can have the joy of watching you die inside when I crash my car into yours.

I know a guy around here with a ctr. Its pretty cool. It could you a little paint, but other than that the car is sick.

Making a EK4 look like a EK9 isnt hard from the outside but i dont see the point..its a bit different to the average civic in town but its trying to be a ctr and unless u buy a REAL ctr its still a fake.. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emthdown.gif

I guess im just lucky..just where i live theres about 15 ctr's and God knows how many itr's and everything is jdm..i guess im just used to it and therefore take them for granted..down here their not really that special..but then im not in the USA..

still nice cars though and pretty fast till they hit limiter.. http://is.rely.net/1-92-30008-l-au16...EFX98SjN8A.gif

NOFX listed the exterior mods if you were to sift and read. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

But.. why not keep the car stock for a bit and learn how to drive and do the basic mainenance yourself? I see you are only fifteen so I'm guessing automotive experience and driving skill may not be up there. Focus on those for a bit, it may help you out in the long run. Have fun.

There are so many other ways you can make your car look. Why limit it by only wanting the guidelines to be "look like a Type R"?

I don't really get the part about being so into just making a car LOOK Like a CTR. The interesting parts aren't Championship White paint and red badges imo.

We don't have EK4s in the US. All '96-'00 USDM Civic hatchbacks are EJ6s.

The OP probbaly will be forced to keep his car relatively stock for awhile out of lack of cash.

I'm glad it's taken a long time to modify my car. Think abotu the kinds of things some of us might have put on our cars when we were fresh to the scene. All the JDM BS parts that are shoved in our faces (mostly by companies that sell parts to the import community). Most of those parts, btw, just heightened the chances for theft. Seriously... make your car actually look like a CTR and it's more likely to be stolen, broken into or messed with.

meh. I got close for it being a DD. I had the key aspects down. I got most things for free.99. I got the 5 lug and wheels and tires for $300. The list of insane pricing discounts on this car went on and on. Sold it, though.

My point was to show how expensive it would be. Though it might be easier than shipping a real one over here making a real one legal in some states. I'd say just find a used one already in the US though.

But the OP is a 15-year-old who can't afford that and his idea for how he wants his car to look is he wants it to look like a Type R.

You could do the poor person's way and still get away with it. I did mine this way since I had an S13 project that was sapping up all my monies at the time.

Ebay lips, CTR replica wheels, knock off seats, and a gauge cluster. You've done it!! It's not a clone, but it should look pretty close to one. I usually have 1 car with the real deal on all parts...and another car with fake garbage. They both end up looking good...the real shit just looks better. I just take my time on the install and the labor and make it look authentic. I try to mount stuff in the most stock fashion as possible (if it's aftermarket or fake shit).

Well, from the other posts the OP has made, I think this will be his only car for awhile (until he can save up for an S2000 he said).

I'd say it'd be better to go with OEM stuff imo. It fits better and looks better.

BTW, OP...B18C1?? BBBBOOOOOOORING!!

The cost of CTR swaps has gone down a lot. I think http://www.n1concepts.com is a honda-tech sponsor....they have some good swap prices. Also, hmotorsonline has a good selection..and I can say from personal experience a few times that their motors are CLEAN.
